New Lord Mayor of Chester is Councillor Sheila Little

The new Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Sheila Little, has announced that the theme for her civic year will be volunteering.

Her chosen charities, which she will support during the year, are Crossroads Hub, Blacon Beacon and Soul Kitchen.

Cllr Little was invested as Lord Mayor of Chester at a ceremony at Chester Town Hall on Friday, 19 May 2023.

Speaking after her inauguration she said: “It a great privilege and an honour to be invested as the Lord Mayor of Chester. Each year the Lord Mayor adopts a theme for the year and mine will be volunteering.”

She added: “I am looking forward to maintaining and promoting the historical traditions of the city and being a figurehead for key local, national and international events.”

The new Sheriff of Chester – an office that dates back to 1121 – is Cllr Hugo Deynem.

He said “It is an absolute honour to be the Sheriff of Chester. I am delighted to take up the role, and I am looking forward to supporting the Lord Mayor and the traditions which come with the office during the year ahead.

“My charities for this year are Dementia UK and Ashton Hayes Community Hub (AHCH).”

The new Deputy Lord Mayor is Cllr Razia Daniels.

Councillor Daniels said: “I am honoured to accept the role of Deputy Lord Mayor in the coming civic year and I am looking forward to also supporting the Lord Mayor and Sheriff, and helping to promote and maintain the historical traditions of the City of Chester.”
