The competition gives people the chance to win a £1,000 Chester Gift Card to spend with over 120 local businesses
People from across Chester have been sharing their perfect yuletide vision in a Win Your Dream Christmascompetition with a £1,000 Chester Gift Card as a possible prize.
Topping the Christmas wish list so far is time spent with family and loved ones, with 63% saying that’s their dream. 27% are dreaming of a festive lunch with everyone sitting around the table. A vision of being cosy and warm at home with a crackling fireplace is a dream Christmas for 23%. 22% say it’s the chance to treat those they love with presents, gifts and local shopping.
Time spent with family and good food is a popular theme in Chester entries so far. One entrant from Chester said: “My dream Christmas is my home filled with my family, a roaring fire, a gorgeous Christmas dinner, silly games and lots of fun and laughter!”
Others are keen to make the most of Chester’s unique charm, with one entry saying: “My perfect day would be an afternoon tea at the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester followed by Christmas shopping in the city. After booking into the hotel would dine at one of Chester’s amazing restaurants, followed by Champagne of course.”
12% are wishing for a White Christmas, including in Chester, with one Chester entry saying: “My dream Christmas is all my family together waking up on Christmas morning with snow outside, Christmas music playing, nice fire, a lovely roast dinner with all the trimmings, and finish with games night and hot chocolate.”
The Chester Gift Card, part of the Town & City Gift Card concept, can be spent with over 120 businesses including shops, restaurants and attractions, giving people an easy way to support local. It was launched in 2020 by Chester BID as part of efforts to encourage local shopping and local spend into the city.
