Chester accountants reveal its charity of the year

A CHESTER accountancy practice has pledged its support to a local hospice for the year ahead.

Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers has chosen to support the Hospice of the Good Shepherd for the year 2020.

The Hospice, based in Backford, provides support to patients and their families living with a life limiting illness.

The Hospice provides specialist palliative care in a 10 bedded in patient ward, as well as complementary therapies in a new living well centre and bereavement counselling for adults and children.

Less than a third of the annual running costs of £4 million come from government funding, the remainder is generated through fundraising, donations, events and corporate partnerships.

The firm of accountants, which has offices in Northgate Street and in Wrexham, will support a different charity each year.

“We are delighted to have been chosen by Ellis & Co as their Charity of the Year for 2020 and we’re excited about the opportunities this presents,” said Caroline Siddall, Director of Income Generation.

“Here at the Hospice we need to raise around £4 million every year so we can continue to provide free palliative care for local people in our community.

“Having the support of one of the leading local accountants in Chester and Wrexham will make a huge difference to our fundraising targets this year.”

Natalie Tomlinson, PR and marketing manager at Ellis & Co added: “We are thrilled have the Hospice as our charity of the year.

“The hospice provides a much needed service in our area, we are looking forward to raising as much money as possible over the coming year.”
