Oliver Brown, the British menswear brand, is proud to announce the opening of its latest store in Chester, marking its first location outside of London. Opening on November 4th, 2024, this new store represents Oliver Brown’s second store launch in under a year, following the success of its City of London location.
Set within one of Chester’s iconic half-timbered buildings at 32 Eastgate Row South, the store’s unique two-level layout offers a shopping experience steeped in history. The historic rows, dating back to the Middle Ages, originally provided covered access to the second-story merchant premises, creating a perfect setting for Oliver Brown to showcase its heritage and craftsmanship.
This new location was previously home to Mappin & Webb, with the Grade II listed building transformed into a two-floor emporium for menswear. The mezzanine level will feature an immersive display highlighting the story of Oliver Brown and its legacy in British tailoring.
Oliver Brown’s Chester store will present the latest Autumn/Winter collection alongside a curated range of ready-to-wear pieces, formal and casual attire, including suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, and luxury accessories. The brand is also well-known for its range of tweeds which it is bringing to the area. The store will also feature a Made to Measure hub located in a historic oak room, offering an exclusive tailoring service to clients. Additionally, as the official Top Hat Licensee for Royal Ascot, Oliver Brown’s signature antique silk top hats will be prominently displayed, emphasising the brand’s long standing equestrian heritage.
Kristian Ferner Robson, Founder of Oliver Brown, expressed his enthusiasm about the new opening: “Chester, with its rich history, beautiful architecture, and renowned racecourse, is a place that’s long been close to my heart. We know that many of our valued clients are from Chester and the surrounding region. It’s also our first store outside of London. With our racing connections, from Royal Ascot to being near Chester Racecourse, the oldest racecourse in the world, this felt like a natural next step for us,” said Kristian Ferner Robson.
The Chester store opening signifies a significant milestone for Oliver Brown, increasing its total store count to four and doubling the number of locations in just a year due to the success of the City of London store. Daniel Williamson, a well-known figure in the Chester tailoring scene, will manage the new store, ensuring the brand’s high standards of service and expertise.
