Shrub & tbc*’s Calum Adams makes UK Top 100 Bartenders

Each year, World Class Great Britain hosts their worldwide competition to find the best bartenders from all corners of the globe. This year, Chester's very own Calum Adams has made the UK Top 100. You may know Calum as one part of the team behind Shrub, Eastgate Row, and the newly opened tbc*, Watergate Street.

Worldclass celebrates the grassroots of cocktail making, and the creative bartenders who are at the heart of the industry. Since 2009, over 400,000 bartenders across the globe have taken part, from up-and-coming to established venues. To celebrate and help his chances of making that illustrious Top 10, tbc* has put Calum's 3 entry drinks on the menu, including a cocktail inspired by our very own walled-city...

‘Seasons Change’ - Singletonwhisky 12, Belsazar Aperitif White, Fir, Dandelion Honey, charged. Finished with Electric Daisies. A nod to the seasonal changes we see around us, the textures, sounds and tastes that evolve with them.

‘Paved with Flora’ - Don Julio Tequila Blanco, Amontillado Sherry, Blackberry, Fir & Agave Shrub, Mineral salts & Black Lime. Finished with Bronze Fennel. Calums take on Chester’s history, from Roman inception to modern day life. The industries that shaped our city have paved the way for what lies today and what goes around us. The rich soils have roots in our Roman ancestry.

‘Ocean Meets Land’ - Seedlipdrinks 108, Kombu & Fennel Cordial, Distilled Water. Finished with Kombu & Fennel. Nature’s Symphony. A drink that replicates the noise of life. The ocean depth crashes against the fertile lands above. The fresh green land as rooted in the salty ocean with a give & take the plays our daily.

Additionally, for every drink you post on social media, you get a shot from behind the bar as a thank you for sharing the word. For every drink you order, tbc * will donate £1 to War Child UK for their work with Bartenders Against Bombs. This international fundraising has raised over £65,000, with drinks made and money raised across every continent.
