Chester is blessed with some fabulous businesses, from restaurants to jewellers, art galleries, independent gems and everything in between, and while you may think you know all this beautiful city has to offer, there are plenty of new businesses that may have slipped under your radar.
We’ve rounded up some of the newest businesses that have sprung up in our vibrant city centre so you won’t miss out on everything they have to offer. We’re also including a few that are just weeks away from opening to give you something to look forward to!
RAINBOW TEA ROOMS
This cafe and community safe place is a first for Chester Pride’s and offers locally-sourced food and drink as well as a LGBTQ+ library. They have a great breakfast menu – a bacon barm anyone? – as well as light bites and treats that include sandwiches, toasties and fresh salads.
They love dogs, too, and will happily give your furry friend water and treats. Look out for a doggy menu, coming soon!

AUGUSTO PIZZERIA
If you like your pizza to taste just like the ones in Turin, then make a beeline to Augusto. Choose from classic or gourmet handcrafted pizzas with toppings that include sausage and potato and gorgonzola and onions. There are starters, desserts and sides, too. Don’t forget to check the website for opening times.

BROW HQ
This inclusive, vegan and cruelty-free brand is passionate about defining natural beauty with a perfect arch. It promises affordable luxury brow beauty and offers high-end brow treatments, semi-permanent make-up and more from its team of creative brow artists.

THAT BEER PLACE
You may know them already from their stall at Chester Market, but That Beer Place is starting afresh at new premises on Foregate Street. Run by Lisa and Dale Lord (pictured) the bottle shop and tap room is now bigger than ever and offers 350 beers and 100 ciders from across the globe, as well as wine, spirits and soft drinks. It also offers takeaway, has an alfresco drinking area and an upstairs tasting room, too.
Families and pet dogs are welcome and there are free dog treats at the bar along with fresh water.

ART HOUSE CAFE
Bloom & Albion are a firmly established retailer in the city centre but they’ve added another string to their bow with the opening of the Art House Cafe. They’re open throughout the day for breakfast and beyond, with hearty dishes and a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options. A wall mural and beautifully curated art on the walls set the stage for the food and drink. Staff welcome babies – they have baby changing facilities, high chairs and a bottle warmer – and the cafe is dog-friendly. too.

C W SELLORS
This year Chester welcomed the fine jewellery and luxury watch specialists to a prime shopping spot on Eastgate Street. CW Sellors is a family-run independent jeweller with branches in Shropshire, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire. As well as stocking a wide range of jewellery they offer a bespoke design service and are an authorised stockist of a variety of premium watch brands.

STYLED
Step into Styled and you’ll see for yourself the range of quality clothes, bags and accessories offered by this relaxed but luxurious brand. GEEK RETREAT
A gaming cafe and events hub in one, this is the place to retreat to if you want a place to ‘belong’ while playing games and making friends. It is inclusive and welcoming to both geeks and non-geeks (so, basically everyone). There are weekly Warhammer Play sessions as well as Yu-Gi-Oh events, Digimon and Pokemon.

Good things come to those who wait…
Cosy Club
The city will soon be home to a branch of the chain that has brought its own style of relaxed glamour to cities across the UK. It’s taking a prime position in the Westminster Coach and Carriage Works building as part of the Northgate Development and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a good selection of gluten-free and vegan options.
Brewski
Taking up residence in the former Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop on Eastgate Row, Brewski will extend over three floors. It’s home to American classics like Mac ‘n’ Cheese, dirty burgers and loaded fries washed down with craft beer – and if beer’s not your thing they’ll also be serving gin and cocktails.
