Laura Wileman, Commis Chef Apprentice within the prestigious Simon Radley Kitchen Academy at The Chester Grosvenor, has been shortlisted as a finalist for Total People’s Intermediate Apprentice of the Year 2019 award.

The awards celebrate the highest calibre of rising talent across a variety of sectors. This year, Laura Wileman, who has undertaken a Commis Chef apprenticeship at the Michelin-starred Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, has been announced as one of the three contenders for Intermediate Apprentice of the Year by Total People.

General Manager of The Chester Grosvenor, Richard Grove, comments: “Having started her apprenticeship at the Simon Radley Kitchen Academy just over a year ago, Laura has shown a great deal of talent, drive and determination in a short period of time. Thanks to a comprehensive and hands-on training programme delivered by experts in the field, Laura has ascended a steep learning curve to deliver 2-4 AA Rosette/Michelin star standards. We are delighted that her hard work has been recognised and wish her the very best of luck in the finals.”

Designed to attract the hospitality stars of tomorrow, the Simon Radley Kitchen Academy has enabled the hotel to ‘grow its own’ employees and promote within. With 92% of apprentices retained within the business, across Kitchen, Facilities Management, Front of House and Food and Beverage, the hotel strives to offer new starters to the industry a career with a clear trajectory.
