Big names back the BID

There are just over 100 days to go before the vote that will decide the future of the Chester BID.

As the countdown begins, CH1ChesterBID Chair Paul Daniels comments:

Support for CH1ChesterBID is growing all the time and it’s clear that we’re making some significant progress with more people recognising that the BID can be a force for positive change.”

“The idea of creating a Business Improvement District (BID) to generate a £2.5 million pot that can underpin a forward-looking programme of improvements across the city centre is really taking root.

“The desire for change has always been there and now there’s a growing recognition that a BID is the best opportunity we will ever have to deliver that change.

“There really isn’t a viable alternative that can deliver the same level of sustainable benefits that a BID can deliver, and businesses are realising that we need to take control of our own futures.”

From Hunter Street to Foregate Street and from Frodsham Street to Pepper Street, retailers and other businesses are embracing what the BID stands for and pledging their support for a ‘YES’ vote when ballot is held in early June this year.

“We’re building real momentum with big names such as The Chester Grosvenor & Spaand Grosvenor Shopping Centre, and big brands such as Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Primark, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a range of independents including Kayes Jewellers and the Barbour Shop,” says Paul.

“New organisations are supporting the BID each week and every one of them wants to restore Chester’s fading reputation as a ‘must see’ retail and visitor destination and that surely is a cause worth fighting for.

“A successful BID vote will deliver tangible benefits for every one of the 550 plus businesses within the BID area.”
