BID Support for Members – Coronavirus (COVID-19)

See the COVID-19 Resources Page HERE for local updates for information and guidance about Business Rates Grants, Cheshire Police Business Crime, Free Advertising, Free Parking and more.

We find ourselves in the midst of an unprecedented public health emergency which is having an impact on all of our businesses.  The Coronavirus situation is rapidly evolving with new advice and guidance being issued daily.

Chester BID remains open and operational and as your Business Improvement District our role is to support our member businesses through these difficult times.  To do this we have created a four-point action plan that we will implement to keep you informed, share your messages and best practice and represent our members.

  1. Keeping Businesses Informed

We will use our communication channels including our website, email databases and WhatsApp messaging group to keep you up to date with the latest news and guidance around Coronavirus.  We will include links to the latest health messages and direct you to the latest information on business related matters.

Action: Keep checking www.chesterbid.co.uk for the latest information. If you are not already on the BID WhatsApp Group and would like to sign up please email hello@chesterbid.co.uk or ring 01244 403680 with your mobile number. NOTE: this is a broadcast only group to keep BID Members informed.

  1. Keeping the Public Informed About BID Businesses, #ChesterTogether

The #ChesterTogether campaign is once again pivoting. We have updated our Experience Chester website to connect businesses and customers for mutual support. We are utilising our social media channels Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter channels as well as our email databases to keep the public informed about what our businesses are doing and how customers can continue to support you during this trying time.

Action: Share any news you would like us to share with a consumer audience using #ChesterTogether and tagging our channels.  We have created 4 key categories to streamline these communications. Check the links to ensure you’re business is appropriated included and if you have any amends let us know ASAP.

There are 4 key categories:
1. Open During Lockdown
2. Shop From Your Sofa
3. Food & Drink To Go
4. Everything Else!

Information has been sourced from BID Member websites, social media pages and direct communications. If you want to send any information to BID directly for promotion contact emily@chesterbid.co.uk or send us a DM on any of our @ChesterBID social media channels.

And be sure to use #ChesterTogether on your own content so we can help extend your reach.

  1. Share Best Practice.

Coronavirus is a national crisis therefore other cities, BIDs and businesses will be facing many of the same issues as Chester.  We will seek out what other organisations are doing to help themselves through the coming weeks and months and share best practice with our members.

Action: sign up to our business newsletter to be kept up to date.

  1. Represent our Businesses

The speed at which the Coronavirus situation is moving means the true impact on businesses is yet to be seen.  We will represent our businesses by engaging with key decision makers in both local and central government, to ensure they understand the impact on businesses and the city. We will also work with our partners in the Destination Chester Group on a co-ordinated approach to supporting both our business and the wider city.

If you are not already signed up to our business newsletter, please do so here.

Please contact the BID office at hello@chesterbid.co.uk or on 01244 403680
