A Chester-based food outlet group is celebrating after one of its brands had dishes certified by The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark this month.

Pheby Food Concepts Group Ltd received the news last week that its Dough Dough wood-fired pizza restaurants had been registered with The Vegan Society.

Dough Dough, which has two restaurants in Chester and Liverpool, is set to launch new venues in Warrington and Derby soon, employing some 60 staff in total.

“Veganism is on the rise, whether for health or animal welfare reasons, or simply taste preferences,” said Shaun Jones, Business Development Manager at Pheby Food Concepts Group Ltd.

“At PFC Group we continually strive to give trusted options to our customers. The in-depth review from The Vegan Society and the fact we can now use their logo on certified products on our menu, really helps to give that level of trust to our customers that we have high standards, and that we really do care about our food and the produce it contains.

“People cutting down meat consumption can be for many reasons and we celebrate them all. We have great tasting vegan options and now thanks to The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark we hope more people will feel confident in trying our diverse menus.”

The Vegan Trademark is certified to businesses that show their products are free from animal ingredients and testing, and is recognised around the world. There are strict measures which must be met, including The Vegan Society scrutinizing the business’s supply chain.

Between 2014 and 2019 the number of British people choosing a vegan diet quadrupled*. The Vegan Society Vegan Trademark can be found on the Dough Dough menu alongside certified dishes including Vegan Margarita, Vegan Ortolana and Vegan Marinara.

“We pride ourselves on being an innovative company,” added Laura Harvey, Operations Director at Pheby Food Concepts Group Ltd.

“This means keeping up with consumer demands. We know the importance of dietary requirements not only from a food safety perspective but understanding the needs and values of our customers, and it’s important we meet them. We hope that by having products certified by The Vegan Society, members of the vegan community can buy from us with trust.”
